It is a privilege for Long Island High School for the Arts to be surrounded by world-class arts institutions throughout both Nassau and Suffolk Counties, many of which are nestled in or near our students’ home communities. We are fortunate to work collaboratively with many of them on creating unique experiences for our students.
Through our Partnerships Program, our students find themselves engaged in the arts not just in school but participating in the practical applications at a wonderful, local cultural organization. The outstanding arts administrators at these institutions recognize importance in working with LIHSA to help shape Long Island’s next generation of artists by offering windows into and opportunities to be immersed in their worlds. Museums, performing arts centers, art councils and independent cinemas are among the partner organizations that all help shape not just Long Island’s cultural landscape but the training of LIHSA’s students.
Activities range from hands on technical experience, performing, hanging art shows, participation in a docent program and many other opportunities. We are proud to partner with:
- Cinema Arts Center
- Children’s Orchestra Society
- Huntington Arts Council
- Long Island Children’s Museum
- Long Island Music Hall of Fame
- Nassau County Museum of Art
- Sands Point Preserve
- Staller Center for the Arts
- The Art Guild
- Tilles Center for the Performing Arts
- Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts
Exploring the Arts Grant
In December 2017, the Joel Foundation designated $1 million to Exploring the Arts (ETA), the non-profit organization founded by Tony Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto, dedicated to strengthening arts education in public high schools. Thanks to that donation, LIHSA has been designated an ETA Partner School and will receive $100,000 to work closely with ETA to create exciting opportunities and for our music students over the next four years.
