Act One, Scene One
LIHSA has been teaching the best actors, musical theatre performers, dramatists and directors on Long Island for 45 years.
Over four years of intensive training, you will have the opportunity to explore your individual creativity in acting, voice and movement, both in class and through performance, in preparation for a career in theatre and screen.
Cabaret Workshop is a class for students interested in strengthening song performance. Throughout the course, students will learn how to interpret a song musically and lyrically in order to find personal expression (point of view) and make it unique to their own particular ideals. A student will also be given the guidance and opportunity to find choice material from the standard, contemporary and pop song catalogues for the creation of a cabaret act suitable for both intimate settings and larger venues. The course will culminate with a Springtime performance at New York's famous cabaret room, Don't Tell Mama. Other performances, to be announced, may be planned during the school year.
