It is an exciting time to be the Long Island High School for the Arts. We are celebrating 45 years as Long Island’s first and only public arts high school. Our new principal brings an inspiring vision of LIHSA as the public arts high school of the 21st century: a forward-thinking institution dedicated to classical training, but equally committed to innovation, artistic exploration, and preparing our students to become entrepreneurs in the flourishing creative economy.
Why Support LIHSA?
Because you believe in the transformative power of the arts and the fundamental value of a professional arts high school education. Put simply, LIHSA students are the future of the visual, creative and performing arts on Long Island. The next Oscar-winning actors, virtuoso musicians, groundbreaking filmmakers, and trend-setting designers will forge their artistic identities right here. When you support LIHSA, you make it possible for another talented and deserving young person to meet life-changing mentors, collaborate with incredible peers, work harder than ever before, and emerge as a professional artist.
Give to LIHSA
If LIHSA has touched your life — as a student, a parent, a patron of the arts, or a member of our incredible community — then you know how special this place really is. Join us in supporting the next 45 years of LIHSA.
Campaign for the Long Island High School for the Arts
Like so many other public education entities faced with the challenges of maintaining their educational offerings, especially those that benefit all public school districts in two counties, the Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) urgently needs to develop supplemental sources of funding.
LIHSA alumni, staff and other supporters are working with the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation to create an additional revenue source. The Campaign for LIHSA committee is led by former Principal Ava Favara, who led the school for 40 years, and Charles Osgood, host of CBS Sunday Morning News and The Osgood Files.
Scholarship Gala - Join us for our Scholarship Gala and performance, where our students and alumni will perform together.
