In the Classroom with Alum Josh Cahn
Actor and comedian Josh Cahn – a 2009 LIHSA graduate – was thrilled to be back to work with students in the Acting for TV & Film classes.
Since graduating from LIHSA, Josh has appeared in numerous television series for HBO, NBC and Comedy Central (among others), as well as a plethora of commercials and theatrical projects. Visit his website www.joshcahn.com.
Returning to LIHSA, Josh led sessions so students could practice their screen audition techniques and self-tape strategies with live feedback and tips/tricks to make their “auditions” better. The mock auditions were followed by Q&A sessions in which students were able to engage with Josh and ask questions ranging from the difference between managers and agents to what Josh’s favorite role has been.
Josh shared, “Coming back to LIHSA is like coming home. What a rewarding teaching experience! The students are as talented as ever and constantly impress me with their level of professionalism, ability, knowledge, and drive. I know this is just the start for these students and a big future awaits them. I am so honored to play a small part in the beginning of their professional journeys.”
Ally Angel, a junior from W. T Clarke High School shared, “The masterclass with Josh Cahn was an awesome experience. His energy was very high while being kind, welcoming and patient. Not once did I feel anxious or out of place. We learned valuable skills about screen acting, like slating, presentation, diction and so on. This was a super fun experience.”
Julia Dean, a junior from Harborfields High School shared, “Working with Josh Cahn was really informational and fun! I felt like I learned a lot from him about how to act on camera for commercials and TV/Film which was helpful because I didn’t really have a lot of experiences with that type of acting. During the Q&A with Josh, I learned a lot about the industry and the auditioning process. Overall, it was a really great experience.”
