When do students attend LIHSA?

Students in the AM session attend LIHSA from 8:00 – 10:30am and then return to their home district high school.  PM students attend their home district high school in the morning and attend LIHSA from 12:00 – 2:30pm.

How do students get to LIHSA?

Bussing is at the discretion of your home school district.  Students with valid NYS drivers’ licenses can apply for a student parking permit.

I’m a Guidance Counselor. What do I need to do?

After students have completed Step 1 and Step 2, you upload the required documents to the RSIP Nassau BOCES portal.  The portal opens in February each year so keep checking back to begin next year’s applications.

Trouble signing into the Nassau BOCES application portal? Email NJahanara@nasboces.org for assistance.

Can I pay my child’s tuition to attend LIHSA if my district won’t?

No.  Nassau BOCES works in cooperation with partnering districts and does not accept students that do not have their district’s approval to attend.

What are the application deadlines?

LIHSA has rolling admissions!  But please note that many of our programs fill up quickly and seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Once you begin the application process, please be ready to submit your audition / portfolio within the next week.

Do I need to submit a digital portfolio?

Students applying for Theatre, Musical Theatre, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Dance, and Visual Media Arts need to submit a digital portfolio.  See the “Admissions Tab” to share your work.

I’ve submitted everything! When do I hear back?

Although admissions are rolling, sometimes of year are busier than others.  Use the chart below as a handy guide.  Please allow 4-6 weeks after we have received all materials from your school district and your digital portfolio.
