Safety Hats On – Construction Has Begun!
A bigger and better stage for even brighter stars!
As you may have noticed, the Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) is officially under construction! We are excited to share that long-awaited renovations to the Main Theatre on LIHSA’s campus are now underway. This project marks an important milestone in the continued growth of our school and our commitment to providing students with professional-level arts education.
The theatre renovation is part of a larger campus improvement initiative that began in the summer of 2024 with the C-building renovations. The theatre is expected to take approximately 12–14 months to complete. When finished, the Main Theatre will feature all new, state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment, allowing students to train and perform using industry-standard technology. Additional upgrades include the addition of a formal crossover and a newly designed orchestra pit, expanding the possibilities for LIHSA productions.
This project was approved through a countywide referendum in October 2025 and is made possible through a funding partnership with The Joel Foundation. We are deeply grateful for the support that allows LIHSA to continue elevating the industry-level talent we have in our student body.
We look forward to sharing progress updates and unveiling impressive upgrades as construction continues. Stay tuned as we build the future of performance at LIHSA.
