Solo Dance Performances Jan 2024

On January 9, twenty-five LIHSA dancers debuted their wonderful solo dance performances.

Keira Rowan, a senior from Massaequa, shared this about her piece: “Little contemporary solo that was in honor of a loved one that passed on. It is really important to have experiences like this, so we get practice performing in front of other people. Especially using our own creativity instead of just other choreographers from our teachers, we can put our own little twists on it and see other things on our bodies.”

Senior Jaimes Piciullo shared, “I created my solo that was called ‘Begin Again.’ I started off by picking my song and then I chose a story line that I thought went along with the lyrics of the song.  Then I picked out my dance moves.”

Kayla Newbert, a senior from Wantagh prepared for the show by picking her song and creating the movement. “Having experiences like the ones like we have here at LIHSA are huge. We experience so much!”

Senior Sophia Buffolino from Levittown enjoyed working through tech on how she wanted the lighting for her solo. “This experience meant a lot to me because I want to be a choreographer in the future. Learning the process really helped me prepare.”

All the performances were beautiful.  Bravo to our dancers! Please scroll down to view more photos.
