SkillsUSA States 2026
LIHSA’s talented Media Arts students traveled to Syracuse, New York from April 22–24 for the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference. Students competed in Digital Cinema, Promotional Bulletin Board, and Chapter Display, putting their creativity and technical skills to the test. A few students attended as journalists, documenting the competition and getting a feel for what it’s like to cover a large-scale event in real time.
The trip came together thanks to a lot of preparation from all Media Arts teachers. SkillsUSA Moderator Robyn Morgan worked closely with students leading up to the competition, making sure they felt ready. Melissa Dorcemus and John Vaiano served as chaperones, supporting students throughout the trip and helping things run smoothly from start to finish.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated and represented LIHSA so well. A special shoutout to AndaLucia Navetta and Alessia Surdich, who earned a bronze medal in Digital Cinema — an exciting and well-deserved achievement.
