Student Spotlight: Erin Fackler, Scholar Artist

Congratulations to LIHSA Senior Erin Fackler from Massapequa who was named a 2026-2027 Scholar Artist by the Long Island Arts Alliance! This awards recognizes not only Erin’s skill in dance, but also her achievements in academics.

Now in her second year at LIHSA, Erin has thrived at the school. She shares, “LIHSA is such a significant part of my high school experience. I am forever grateful that I am able to spend my mornings training in dance while being surrounded by other artists who are just as passionate about dance as I am.  The environment LIHSA creates for artists to learn is so inspiring!  I’m very thankful for all my teachers at LIHSA for making this all possible and for their constant love and support!”

In addition to  training at LIHSA, Erin also trains at Mossa Dance Academy in New Hyde Park as a member of their competition team, training in a variety of styles and working with numerous choreographers and teachers. She also is a member of Massapequa High School’s kick line, The Massapequa Chiefettes, serving as captain her Junior and Senior years. As captain, she choreographs the team’s routines.

After graduating high school, Erin plans on continuing both an academic and artistic journey at a university. She would like to major in Psychology/Forensics and minor in Dance while participating on the university’s dance team.  Her career aspirations are to become a forensic psychologist while also teaching and choreographing dance.

Erin shares, “The support of my peers and my teachers at LIHSA has given me a level of confidence that has enabled me to continue to challenge myself.  The professional environment at LIHSA has given me a path for success.  By coming to LIHSA I have felt much more prepared and ready to go into the real world after I graduate.  I have learned new things even outside of dancing, like lighting and staging, which I am forever grateful for because I feel even more prepared for whatever may come. LIHSA has helped me by further developing and strengthening my technique and versatility in dance.  I am graduating LIHSA feeling confident and ready for the future.”

We have every confidence in Erin and can’t wait to keep cheering you on.  Congratulations on becoming a 2026-27 Scholar Artist!
