Artist Statement

“My AP portfolio is based on the experiences of raising a service dog puppy. It exhibits themes of loneliness and help. Oftentimes living life as a disabled person can feel very isolated and lonely. Many who have service animals find comfort in knowing that they have at least something in the world who will love them unconditionally. Oftentimes our service dogs are the only constant in our ever changing and isolating lives. In several pieces we can see bears (my service dog in training) either actively tasking during an episode or helping to make sure I am ok post episode. Other pieces contain reasons for such episodes such as the feeling of loneliness or delusion of being watched.”
