Broadway Supports LIHSA Returned November 6, 2023!
Broadway Supports LIHSA returned this year on November 6 and was a spectacular day-into-evening event.
Early in the day, the actors arrived by bus and worked with LIHSA tech students to rehearse and sound check their numbers. Hewlett senior Niko Matos worked backstage on stage crew. He said he enjoyed watching the Broadway singers perform.
After the rehearsal, actors hosted a Q&A/Talk Back with LIHSA Students.
Grace Lavergne, a junior from Kings Park studying dance said, “they gave us good advice about our future after high school.”
Megan Hartman, a senior from Long Beach agrees,” They talked about how to get ready for auditions and how to do side jobs, go to college and still be an actor and be on stage. They gave good advice about how to keep on doing what we’re interested in doing!”
Abigail Colfer, a senior from Massapequa, shared there was “a lot of design work leading up to the show.” She added “Everyone was very nice and it was generally a lot of fun.”
Thank you to Co-Directors and Producers Stephen DeAngelis and Jerome Vivona. We would also like to thank Michelle Vivona for teaching original choreography from “Thoroughly Modern Millie” to our dance students and LIHSA faculty Kim Larkin and accompanist Francis Lees for all of their work preparing students for their vocal performances. And of course, a thank you to everyone involved in the entire event, especially the visiting Broadway actors:
