Cross Departmental Collaboration

On Thursday, March 19, 2026, the Dance Department had the opportunity to collaborate with the Production Managerial Arts department in an engaging, hands-on learning experience.

Led by John Vaiano and his students, dancers participated in a mini master class on lighting terminology and the mechanics of stage lights. They explored how lighting enhances performance, practiced operating equipment, and learned how to clearly communicate their artistic needs to a lighting designer. In turn, the Production Managerial Arts students shared their expertise with confidence and professionalism.

This experience was a wonderful example of the power of cross-departmental collaboration at Long Island High School for the Arts. Thank you to Mr. Vaiano and his students for such a meaningful and inspiring opportunity!
