Outstanding Senior Ava Mirabelli

Ava Mirabelli, a senior from the Bethpage School District, is currently part of LIHSA’s PM Musical Theatre program. Although this is her first year at the school, Ava has embraced every opportunity to grow as a performer and artist.

Her interest in musical theatre began at age 10, inspired by her mother and older sister’s involvement in school drama productions. That early influence led Ava to seek out a community where she could deepen her understanding of both on-stage performance and behind-the-scenes work. LIHSA provided the perfect environment for that growth.

One of the most memorable moments of Ava’s time at LIHSA was collaborating with Tony-nominated composer Joe Iconis during the production of Family Album. “He shared so much about how he crafts his music and the stories behind each song. His enthusiasm for his work reminded me why I started performing in the first place,” she reflects.

After graduation, Ava plans to study Psychology, with a minor in Musical Theatre. She’s aiming for a future in Forensic Psychology or Criminal Justice, while continuing to participate in theatrical productions throughout college.

Ava emphasizes that LIHSA is a valuable experience for anyone interested in the arts—regardless of their career plans. “This year taught me so much about the industry, auditioning, and how to build your identity as an artist. I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of it.”

Beyond LIHSA, Ava is involved in numerous activities: she is President of the Masquers Guild, a NYSSMA All-State vocalist, and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She also performs with Productions Over the Rainbow and appeared as Janet Van De Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone at Bethpage High School in March 2025.

Congratulations on a successful year at LIHSA, Ava!
