Artist Statement

“My AP is a tribute to a very special group of people. These people are, of course, unseen to most, and it’s my goal to one day make them seen! Folks around my age tend to share the story of family and friends helping them through tough times, but I’ve come to find growing up the only ones I could really rely on to cheer my up were my characters. The sheer amount of doodles I would dish out led to tens and hundreds of characters, each over time developing their own unique stories and personalities reflecting many of my interests and life experiences. Whenever I felt down I would draw what had me low, and through my struggles my characters faced struggles as well. They weren’t just characters in a void anymore, but now a story started to develop around them. One with danger and intrigue! A world had formed, and conflicts and relationships had breathed into them new life. Family and friends became invested when I would regale them with the stories I had locked up in my head, and I realized I must do them the service they deserved, and from that day forward, I detected my life to telling their stories. My AP is only the start, a sheer taste, of Tin, Rowan, Ricky, Rhaez, Sling and Rose, and the world they have to offer. My AP is a very special tribute, to some very special people.”
