In the Classroom: Robert Bruno
Digital Illustrator Robert Bruno was welcomed into Kevin Edwards’ Visual Arts class at LIHSA May 2026 where he worked closely with the students on different digital illustration techniques. He also shared his experiences with being an entrepreneur and freelance work in this field. Students were also able to share their children’s books and layout design with Bruno and receive feedback.
Robert received a bachelor’s degree in communications design from Pratt Institute in 2012. Using pop culture and the sporting world as his major sources for inspiration, Robert combines a realistic painting style with a pop art accent to create a unique, illustrative feel. His client list includes the NFL, MLB, Philadelphia Eagles, Riot Games, Intermedia Outdoors, Target McConnells, Penn State University, and the University of Central Florida. Robert has also exhibited his galleries across the country including the Hero Complex Gallery, Ltd. Gallery, and Bottleneck gallery.
Bruno shared, “My experience with Kevin’s class was great. I was able to share about my artistic journey and career and showed the students a bunch of work samples. They were very engaged and we were able to have a good Q and A and dialogue about the art world, business practices, and technical skills. I was then able to view each student work from the semester and gave them all some notes and thoughts.”
Alexa Byers, a junior from Carle Place High School, shared her gratitude for having Mr. Bruno sharing his passion and expertise in digital illustration. “He’s really talented and has a lot of knowledge to share with us. I am excited for him to come back,” said Alexa.
Mr. Edwards also shared how thrilled he is to have such an amazing and talented artist in his classroom. “He was truly great and an inspiration to the students. It really is a meaningful experience to have students working with such a creative and skilled artist.”
