Outstanding Senior Judah Parker
There’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and there’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTS, and Math). Game Design is a great example of STEAM, and Senior Judah Parker beautifully demonstrates how art and creativity meet math and science in his Game Design work.
Judah is a senior from Bellmore/Merrick, in second year at LIHSA. He loves coding and being creative and found LIHSA’s Game Design program a perfect match for his interests. His teacher, Mr. Minerva, has made a big impact on his education and progression.
“LIHSA has helped me improve my skills in coding and art for game design,” Judah shares. “It also taught me how to be better at teamwork and working with others.”
Judah is especially proud of his Platformer project from last year. It was challenging to create the characters and use physics and math. He also more recently finished a children’s game that also was based on a lot of physics and coding.
A word that Judah uses to describe LIHSA is FUN, and he shared that a particularly memorable day was last year when DMC (aka Darryl McDaniels from Run D.M.C.) came to talk to students.
Among Judah’s artistic influences are Game Designers Toby Fox and Miyamoto from Mario Brothers. Both these designers use great pixel art and create games everyone enjoys. He’s further creatively inspired by the games he plays and stories he’s read.
Judah has the following message to share with the LIHSA community, “Never stop being creative and keep doing what you enjoy doing.”
Judah – we can’t wait to see where your creativity takes you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work at LIHSA!
